International Baccalaureate (IB)
Programmes and their Attributes
At Colegio Anglo Colombiano, we achieve our educational goals by implementing International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. Through an IB-aligned education, we nurture students aged 4 to 19 to become curious, informed and caring young people who contribute to creating a better world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Our team of professionals, highly trained in the IB philosophy, adapts the programmes in accordance with our definition of learning and teaching to offer a robust, high-quality education within this framework, ensuring that each student receives a comprehensive and global education.
The development of the attributes of the IB learner profile is fundamental to a comprehensive education at Anglo. Beyond academics, this holistic approach cultivates the skills and qualities necessary for students to thrive in a complex world. By fostering the IB attributes, we develop young people who not only have knowledge, but also the ability to apply their learning to create a positive impact on their community and beyond. These attributes are the foundation for balanced personal, social and emotional growth, preparing students to be lifelong learners with an international mindset.
The IB seeks to develop students intellectually, personally, emotionally and socially. This is achieved by fostering critical thinking, inquiry, global citizenship and a love of lifelong learning. Our educational model is structured around three programmes:
Primary Years Programme (PYP): For students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 4. Middle Years Programme (MYP): Covers Grades 5 to 10. Diploma Programme (DP): In Grade 11.

From 3 to 12 years old
Enquiry is the main learning methodology.
6 transdisciplinary themes exploring knowledge in a global context.
Key components:
Knowledge, Concepts, Transdisciplinary Skills, Attitudes and Action.

MYP
Grade 5 to Grade 9
11-16 years old
Provides a rigorous academic framework that encourages practical connections between studies and the real world.
8 subject groups around a Personal Project or independent research undertaken by the student in the final year.

Rigorous and balanced with final assessments.
Recognised by the world’s leading universities.
6 subject groups and 3 compulsory core components: Language and Literature Studies, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Science, Mathematics, Arts.
