Aims

  • Objective: Understand & comment on the use of literary devices used by authors.
  • Objective: express a creative response to literary texts.

Content

Students will read “The House On Mango Street” or Kiss The Dust both of which address social issues. Throughout the bimestre students will discuss the issues presented in the text and provide examples from their own personal experience and current events.

Students will also develop their creative writing skills that will enable them to respond to social issues through a variety of expressive forms.
Summative task

Creative Writing: 500 – 1000 words.
Students will write a creative piece that reflects their understanding of a social issue that is depicted in the text.
