Content
Students will read “When the World Began”, a collection of short stories from Ethiopia. They will investigate aspects of Africa: traditions, food, clothing, and culture. Students will engage in discussion regarding the origins of storytelling and how tales reflect the culture of the people. Students will be encouraged to share personal anecdotes and comment on the techniques used to create an effective tale.
Summative task
The summative task will revolve around role playing throughout the unit and culminate in final dramatic production. Monologues of at least 300 words will be evaluated according to modified MYP criteria
